Black History Month is a time for reflection on the sacrifices of our ancestors, sacrifices that paved the way for us to thrive and make our mark across all industries. It’s a celebration of our culture, our resilience, and our ongoing pursuit of excellence. Despite the obstacles we’ve faced—and continue to face—we rise. We innovate. We lead. From inventors and educators to entrepreneurs and presidents, we continue to inspire. Black History Month is a reminder that we are more than the labels placed upon us.

My own challenges in launching an IT career highlighted the significant lack of diverse talent in these fields, fueling my passion to address this issue. This led me to found the Visionary League in 2017. The Visionary League empowers traditionally marginalized identities by breaking down workplace barriers and providing access to vital resources, support, and education. Our mission is to cultivate a diverse and innovative workforce that fuels economic growth and social progress in Wisconsin and beyond. The V-League’s goal is to ensure talented individuals seeking opportunities in the IT and Creative industries can find them here in Milwaukee, eliminating the need to leave the city to launch their careers.

“Have a vision of excellence, a dream of success, and work like hell.” – Dr. Samuel DuBois Cook
