Powering Economic Mobility Through Technology Careers
Strategic Plan 2027–2029
i.c.stars interns, residents, and alumni drive business success, strengthen communities, and create lasting economic mobility for generations to come.
From Our CEO
“Economic mobility remains our North Star.”
In 2029, i.c.stars will celebrate 30 years of creating economic mobility through technology careers. More than 1,400 alumni later, we have seen what happens when talented people who have been overlooked by traditional systems gain access to technology skills, real-world experience, leadership development, and employers willing to recognize potential differently.
Today, the workforce is changing again. Artificial intelligence is transforming how people learn, work, and advance — and as routine work becomes automated, human capabilities like judgment, adaptability, and leadership become even more valuable.
Our mission has not changed. What must evolve are the pathways, experiences, partnerships, and supports that help people achieve it. As we approach 30 years, we are not reinventing i.c.stars. We are building the next evolution of a model that works.
— Meighan Newhouse, CEO
Why This Matters Now
Talent is everywhere. Access to economic mobility is not.
Technology careers remain one of the most powerful pathways to upward economic mobility in America — but access to those opportunities is deeply uneven, and AI is reshaping how people enter and advance in the field. Preparing someone for a single job or technical skill is no longer enough.
The challenge is not simply helping people get jobs. It is building pathways through which people historically excluded from opportunity can discover, enter, advance in, and ultimately create opportunity within the technology economy.
THE ECONOMIC MOBILITY ECOSYSTEM
i.c.stars connects experiences that too often exist in isolation into one continuous pathway:
DISCOVER — Constellation Collective introduces students in grades 6–12 to technology, AI literacy, and leadership before career possibilities narrow.
LAUNCH — Adults build technical capability, AI fluency, leadership, and professional networks through our intensive 14-week Internship.
ADVANCE — The 20-month Residency supports graduates as they earn credentials, specialize, and navigate career advancement.
LEAD + GIVE BACK — Alumni advance into leadership, launch businesses, mentor Interns, and open doors for the next generation. And the cycle begins again.

Four Strategic Investments. One Proven Model.
01 | BUILD PATHWAYS — Reach talent earlier through Constellation Collective and partnerships with schools, districts, and communities.
02 | DEVELOP LEADERS + TECHNOLOGISTS — Prepare people for careers, not simply first jobs, through the Internship, Residency, credentials, and AI readiness.
03 | ACTIVATE EMPLOYERS + COMMUNITIES — Engage employers as partners in talent development, not just at the point of hire.
04 | SCALE IMPACT + SUSTAINABILITY — Build the technology, data, people, and diversified revenue needed to scale what works.
“Resilience, or survival, was just something you needed to live — but after realizing it can be applied to a career, it really feels like a super power now.” – i.c.stars alumnus
