On April 17, 2025, i.c.stars brought together HR, tech, and ERG leaders for a transformative roundtable at Morningstar in Chicago. The morning event focused on redefining how organizations approach workforce development, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the modern tech age. Our morning kicked off with a panel discussion moderated by Karin Norington-Reaves, CEO of i.c.stars, and containing Yemi Akinsanya, Axon, Jim Petrassi, Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL, TX, OK, MT and NM, Alexander Purcell, United Airlines, and Diane Riboul, Amsted Rail.
The rapidly changing tech landscape means traditional approaches to talent aren’t enough. This event emphasized the importance of cross-functional partnerships—especially between HR and tech—to hire for potential, reskill existing teams, and build inclusive cultures. Participants explored strategies to engage employees throughout their journey, ensuring belonging and opportunity for all.
What Participants Took Away
- Holistic Employee Experience: Leaders exchanged innovative ideas on enhancing engagement, belonging, and career growth.
- Targeted Upskilling: The roundtable encouraged hiring practices centered on adaptability and lifelong learning.
- Intersectional Collaboration: Representatives from HR, tech, and ERGs shared best practices for fostering psychological safety and inclusive environments.
More than just a panel discussion, this was an interactive dialogue—with roundtable-style conversations and networking that sparked new collaborations and deeper understanding among participants from diverse organizations.
