i.c.stars Graduate Michael on Corporate Culture and Growth
I found out about i.c.stars from my girlfriend—she’s my fiancé now. I liked their non-conventional approach, self-teaching, problem solving and learning by doing. It was right for me. They teach you how to find answers and that’s a skill that doesn’t go out of date. One of the things that impress me was the ability to network with truly influential people. This was a constant around i.c.stars and we were encouraged to make the most of their time. They opened my eyes to the endless opportunities that we had, options that I didn’t know even existed. They gave clarity and perspective to what we were doing and pointed out the best ways to accomplish goals. They helped us find the same leadership in ourselves. I learned how to help others, to see their point of view and lift them up. That’s helped me see the customer’s point of view in my new job, to de-escalate a problem. The cohorts also helped tremendously, and we supported each other. I received– and still receive– a ton of assistance and constant encouragement from alumni. I.c.stars is the whole package.
I used to work in a warehouse- not much room for advancement. Now I am a certified scrum master for Molex, on the digital lab development team. I have three assigned projects, one of them international. One of the greatest things I love about Molex is the culture. It’s truly inclusive and everyone truly wants you to succeed and will do all they can to help you reach your goals. They have a level platform where anyone no matter the position can challenge an issue and help to find a solution that can be mutually beneficial. I love the work, love to solve problems, and I enjoy the people I work with. It’s a great company, with good values, and I know I have a future there. I can care for my family, give to my community, and I go to work each day knowing that my work matters to a lot of people and a big company.
My plans include advancing in my career. I am also looking to start a YouTube channel, to speak about my love of sports, and a Blog where I can do some inspirational writing. I love to give back and I want to help others the way I have been helped. A lot of the alumni describe i.c.stars as ‘home’ when we come back. That’s how I feel–I love i.c.stars—it’s my home. I love the people at i.c.stars, too. They support me, they encouraged me.
They know me.
