As President/CEO of Sherman Phoenix, I’m deeply honored to share our commitment to social justice, especially as we approach Social Justice Day on February 20th. At Sherman Phoenix, we don’t just talk about community empowerment; we live it. Our mission is to provide a safe space for entrepreneurs of color to grow their businesses, and in doing so, we’re actively working to dismantle the systemic inequalities that have held back our community for far too long.
Social Justice Day is a powerful reminder that the fight for equity and opportunity is an ongoing journey. It’s a moment to reflect on the work that’s been done and to recommit ourselves to the work that still lies ahead.
For us at Sherman Phoenix, this means addressing the economic disparities that disproportionately impact Black and Brown communities in Milwaukee.
One of the most impactful ways we achieve this is through strategic partnerships. I’m particularly proud of our collaboration with i.c.stars. Their dedication to providing tech training and career opportunities to underserved individuals aligns perfectly with our vision of empowering our community. Together, we’re creating pathways to economic mobility and breaking down the barriers that have historically prevented talented individuals from reaching their full potential.
Our partnership with i.c.stars isn’t just about providing training; it’s about fostering a sense of belonging and creating a supportive ecosystem where individuals can thrive. When i.c.stars participants come to Sherman Phoenix, they see entrepreneurs who look like them, who have faced similar challenges, and who are building successful businesses despite those challenges. This visibility is crucial. It shows them that success is attainable, that their dreams are valid, and that they have a community that believes in them.
In Milwaukee, we see firsthand the effects of systemic inequality. By partnering with organizations like i.c.stars, we’re working to level the playing field. We’re providing the tools, the training, and the support that individuals need to create sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.
At Sherman Phoenix, we believe that entrepreneurship is a powerful tool for social change. When individuals have the opportunity to build their own businesses, they not only create economic opportunities for themselves but also contribute to the revitalization of their communities. They become role models, mentors, and sources of inspiration for others.
As we celebrate Social Justice Day, I want to reiterate our commitment to this work. We will continue to build bridges, break down barriers, and create a more equitable future for our community. We will continue to partner with organizations like i.c.stars to expand our impact and reach more individuals.
I invite you to join us in this mission. Support our entrepreneurs, volunteer your time, and spread the word about the work we’re doing at Sherman Phoenix and i.c stars. Together, we can create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
